How Color Works In Hospitality Spaces to Affect Your Guests

According to psychologists, the colors that surround us can have a huge impact on our moods and actions. Interior designers need to understand this impact when choosing the color scheme of a business. Berlin Designs incorporates principles of color psychology into its hotel designs that contribute to that hotel’s efforts to provide guests with a pleasing experience.

color psychology hospitality design

Color psychology is especially important in hotel design. A client’s general mood throughout his or her stay will impact future perceptions of that client’s hotel stay.

What effects do colors have on people?

It has been proven by many different psychological studies that, in general, colors influence mood and behaviors. Although these responses happen on a subconscious level and can differ depending on the culture, the effects of certain colors on a typical person can be predictable and follow certain principles.

How can those who work in hospitality use color psychology?

People determine where they want to go for a meal or a hotel stay based on how they want to feel and how they perceive that a certain place will make them feel. Any business in the hospitality industry should create a brand image that convinces potential clients that what they want is provided by that company. In determining color schemes for a hotel, it’s important to first identify the type of clientele that one is looking to attract. This will influence whether or not that hotel should opt for a conservative color scheme, a vibrant color scheme, an unusual color scheme, etc.

Share your thoughts or ask questions on color psychology on our Facebook page.

Please feel free to contact us at Berlin Designs if you have questions or if you’d like to learn how you can use color to enhance the look and feel of your hotel’s interior designs.

PLANT THE FUTURE was founded in 2008 by Paloma Teppa,  industrial designer and artist. Paloma’s passion is to fuse art, design, architecture and nature, constantly pushing the barrier of her artistic expression through new and innovative creations.

” The need to re-affirm our link with nature and to be surrounded with living plants is fundamental. I feel it is more important than ever to utilize design to reestablish our contact with nature to generate harmony in our lives and our surroundings. The more we connect with nature, the more peaceful we feel.

I seek to design objects that value the beauty of nature such as the colors, textures and smells of a garden. Objects that breathe and naturally purify our homes.I find magical secrets hiding in every garden. My miniature gardens portray an ideal world where plants and animals live in harmony and cared by humans. It is an exercise to raise our consciousness every day.”         – Paloma Teppa

Let our design team at Berlin Designs bring green walls into your spaces: NO water needed!

Once again Miami’s streets come to life with amazing artist who take to the street and find the warehouse’s walls of the Wynwood area as their canvas. While as a town we still mourn the unfortunate death of a young urban artist, and Miami residents take to the streets in solidarity to stand for freedom, respect and a peaceful existence free of fear, such are the voices we see in these walls. From the glorious American flag to cartoons speaking to us to eyes wide open.  The art of eyes in one eyed robots, unknown faces and mystical creatures speak to us at the core of these values. We are blessed to live in the 305 where world wide talent comes together to bring out the best in us, yes Urban art is here to stay and this is where it shines!

Easy Ways to Use Bamboo In Your Office

modern-home-officeAn eco-friendly and attractive choice, bamboo works well as a material in your home office. Its neutral color is relaxing and makes you feel at ease while you work, and it’s strength makes it versatile for use in many different applications. Here’s are several bamboo design ideas for your home office.

Sound-Absorbing Panels

Bamboo is great for absorbing sound, and including bamboo panels in your office design will help keep your office quiet so you can concentrate. These panels are available in a number of colors and textures, so you can coordinate them perfectly with your interior design.

Window Blinds

Give your windows a look that’s reminiscent of the outdoors. Bamboo blinds are not only attractive, but they are also very durable. You don’t have to worry as much about breaking them as you would with plastic blinds. Bamboo is also a more sustainable choice than wooden blinds, since it grows back very quickly after being harvested.

Bamboo design is becoming more popular, and there are now many types of bamboo blinds on the market, from micro-blinds to thicker, vertical blinds.

A Wall-Mounted Desk

Save space by choosing a wall-mounted bamboo air desk. Since bamboo is so light, it makes a great material choice for a wall desk. It will exert less pressure on your wall than a wooden desk, so you don’t have to be so concerned about damage. An air desk gives you a space for your laptop and other office supplies without hogging floor space.

Keep Your Employees Creative With These Office Design Tips

Do you have an office full of creatives? Are your employees complaining about having a creative block that you can’t figure out how to fix? When you work in a creative industry, it’s important to offer your employees a space that doesn’t  kill their inspiration. That’s why we at Berlin Designs are sharing these ideas for creative office designs that will allow your employees’ imaginations to flourish instead of wither away under fluorescent lights and drab cubicles.

Keep Your Employees Creative With These Office Design Tips

The first thing to remember when designing an office space for creatives is to keep the environment open and friendly. Allow your employees to bring in personal items that make them happy or give them inspiration. These artifacts will brighten up a dull office while building a sense of community as the office works together to set the mood with their decorations.

Another thing to keep in mind when designing an office to foster creativity is to forget conventional office set-ups and embrace non-traditional design instead. For example, instead of providing individual cubicles for your employees, why not offer spaces that can be shared and encourage collaboration? Try large, family-style tables instead of desks, and padded pods instead of conference areas.

Lastly, take cues from your employees to see what kind of environment is best for them. Instead of planning out a grand plan in your mind without any input from the people who will spend most of their time in the space, try observing them first to see what their needs are as a team. Are they in need of comfortable spaces to kick back while brainstorming? Maybe they need an open space to pace back and forth as they work through difficult concepts. Let the employees set the tone for the office and they will perform much better.

Bamboo Flooring for your Living Room

Bamboo flooring offers a chic and eco-friendly way to bring wood into your living room. Bamboo is durable, easy to maintain, and able to resist water better than other types of wood flooring.

Via Houzz

There are many bamboo design options available for living room floors. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Consider different shades. While natural bamboo floors have a very light appearance, you can also get a bamboo floor in a richer shade, such as caramel or honey, or have it stained a different color altogether to match your living room better. A lighter floor will make the room look more spacious and open, while a darker floor provides a more intimate and dramatic look.
  • Choose a look. Depending on the construction process used for your bamboo floor, it will have a different appearance. Floors that are vertically constructed have a very streamlined, linear appearance, while horizontally constructed floors have a “knuckled” look that closely resembles bamboo stalks. Woven bamboo floors have an exotic look that can include different lengths and colors.
  • Get a contemporary look. A wide-plank engineered bamboo floor can give your living room a contemporary look. This type of bamboo floor is also highly durable.

If you have another type of wood floor installed in your kitchen, dining room or other area that connects to your living room, it’s best to have professional interior designers in South Florida help you choose a bamboo design for your new floor. You’ll want a bamboo floor that will blend as seamlessly as possible with the floor of the adjoining room, rather than creating a jarring contrast.

Top Color Schemes to Paint Your Kitchen

Your kitchen is the heart of your home. Doesn’t it make sense to paint it a color that really speak to you and makes you feel at ease? These top kitchen color schemes do just that.

kitchen design ideas

Red – When you start your morning in a red kitchen, you become energized and invigorated. This vibrant color really pops, especially when paired with more subtle neutrals, such as light brown and white, or even black and white. A red, black and white kitchen can take on a vintage look, adding artistic character to your home.

Gray – Gray may sound drab, but the right shade can serve as the base for a lovely kitchen. Add a splash of color here and there to shake things up. If you’re afraid of using too much gray, use it as a cabinet color. It will add a soothing feeling to the space.

Green – According to color psychology, green stands evokes feelings of harmony and balance. If you love bright colors in the kitchen, there is no better choice than a natural grass green. Accentuate it with touches of rust and gray for a very modern look.

Blue – Blue has always been a popular color for kitchens because it pairs with most anything and evokes feelings of relaxation. For a more upbeat vibe, pair blue with touches of yellow and red. For a more laid-back room, use a light blue with a little brown and cream for accents.

If you’re looking for ways to integrate the latest in color psychology and these great colors into your home decor, contact Berlin Designs. Our South Florida interior designers are experienced in working with a wide array of different styles, and will help you find the perfect color scheme for your kitchen.

Updating your Office Waiting Room

Your office waiting room is often the first place that clients and other office visitors see. What’s more, they often spend time sitting there, so they’ll be paying close attention to the decor. Make sure you are making the best first impression possible by updating your office waiting room with the best decor and interior designs. Here are a few office interior design tips to get you started.

  • Use an attractive area rug to add color to the floor. This will draw the eye downward and give the room a balanced look. Make sure the rug you choose sports a unique pattern or texture. The best ones can serve as conversation pieces.
  • Add some green plants. They add a natural feeling to your space, and green is a very refreshing, neutral color that will match most any decor. Just make sure you remember to water them regularly, so they stay looking healthy.
  • Consider the minimalist look. Oftentimes, a few pieces of very ornate furniture, and a couple of extremely innovative paintings look better than a lot of cluttered decorations.
  • Provide comfortable seating. The days of hard chairs and proper tables in waiting rooms are over. Opt instead for a comfortable sofa and a few soft chairs, so that multiple visitors do not have to sit too close together if they don’t want to.
  • Get the lighting right. Bright, clinical lighting tends to make people nervous. Choose a softer, quieter light to keep visitors comfortable. You may want to consider using lamps instead of standard overhead lighting.

Our South Florida interior designers are experts at giving waiting rooms and other office spaces the look you crave. Contact us to discuss your favorite office interior design ideas today.

Reasons Why you Should Hire an Interior Designer

  • Hiring an interior designer may actually save you money. Although you will have to pay a fee to the designer, you know you are not going to make high-priced mistakes that may make it harder to sell your home in the future.
  • You only have so much time and money to put into your design, right? An interior designer can help you make the most of that budget, so you end up choosing the best products and designs that fit into it.
  • Interior designers know where to get the best merchandise. They have access to a whole lot of interesting decorations and materials that you would never find on your own, and they can obtain them for you efficiently.
  • You want people to think “wow” when they first walk into your room. Interior designers are focused on creating the “wow” factor, so every guest leaves impressed with your taste.
  • After looking at your space so often, you become used to it and don’t spot mistakes the same way an outsider does. An interior designer offers a trained outside eye, who can identify mistakes and change them to improve your home’s look.

If you’re looking for interior design services in south Florida, contact Berlin Designs. Our experienced designers will create a space that you’re proud to come home to.
