From the first time we entered this loft with breathtaking views of biscayne bay our design minds went on overdrive. A blank canvas with 30 foot high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows on the water is the perfect inspiration for an interior designer.

The home owners bought this loft as a vacation retreat from the winter home in Ohio. Wanting a "South beach feel" as they put it was their goal. The initial decision was to keep the industrial loft feeling by maintaining the exposed plumbing and mechanical ductwork as well as the electrical conduits. Then to follow suit we chose to polish the cement slab with an off white sand aggregate coat in a high gloss finish, adding thus to the luminosity of the water reflection pouring in from the balcony.

As you enter the home a full length mirrored wall reflects not only the water view but the whimsical accent of lighted river rocks that border the walls as well. A provocative art piece is the focal point in the foyer and gives you a peek of what is yet to come. In the living room the infusion of the cobalt blue color on the main support columns against the stark white walls offer an architectural focal point that further replicate the hues of the ocean and sky.

An all glass guest bedroom/office is open to the living area and can be closed off as needed with double white sheer curtains. This bedroom features an an in-suite guest bath allowing guest to enjoy full privacy.

The master suite is open to below and the views from the second level are expansive. The space feels so airy, the lack of walls takes down all visual barriers and the outdoors becomes one with the bedroom.

As a interior designer the challenge designing large open lofts is to balance the industrial finishes with luxurious elements like leather, silk and appealing textures that offer the loft an elegant and intimate home appeal.
