Often clients call upon interior designers on small hard to decorate spaces. This was the case with this Aventura client, she felt comfortable purchasing and arranging her living and dining areas, but when it came to her elevator entry foyer, her once laundry wanting to turn it into a powder room and her long hallway, she was a loss for ideas.
Pregnant at them time with their first child, and looking for a home to move to from their existing condo, they sought the maximum impact with a limited budget. We opted for a custom look in the foyer creating a series of three dimensional panels which dressed the wall off the elevators. This wall was resting on abase which housed indirect lighting and river rocks that further added visual interest while creating a myriad of shadows and achieving the desired look.
In the new powder room a single wall of glass mosaic in our color palette accented by the serene chocolate brown paint tone in the adjacent walls and ceiling sets the mood for a strikingly elegant powder room. By keeping the existing crown moulding in a pearlized tone to follow suit with the existing Crema Marfil marble flooring throughout the home, the contrast was achieved and thus, it is a bright room in spite of the dark colors.
The hallway too, presented as a bare long alley with no much visual interest. We designed three arches which gave a sense of perspective as well as architectural definition to the barren hall. For asymmetrical balance we installed an antique mirror above a custom cantilevered shelf which incorporated test tube vase holders full of river rocks and papyrus stems. On the opposite wall a triptych art piece in monochromatic tones and all unified by a bamboo runner along the floor.
The end result an elegant and inviting hall to the private bedroom areas.
